The process of discharge may take anywhere between 2-4 hours. On the day of discharge rooms are to be vacated by 12:00 pm. If this is not possible, alternative arrangements may be made with your ward sisters prior to the day of discharge.

As a private patient you may discharge yourself at any time, except where your treating Doctor determines otherwise. This would be in a situation where discharge is detrimental or dangerous to yourself or others and if you do not comply then the doctor can get another psychiatrists opinion on the situation and keep you as an involuntary patient under the Mental Health Act.
